Key Dates for Blocks Away

Application Windows

For any Block Away it is highly recommended that students apply during the primary application window and as early in the window as possible (as many programs use rolling admissions and can fill early).  While some programs can accept later applications, options for aid, as well as availability in the program could be significantly restricted after an application window has closed.

Upcoming Application Windows

Summer 2027 Blocks Away: December 2-January 15
2027-2028 Academic Year Blocks Away: January 28-March 15

The primary application window for all 2026-2027 Academic Year Blocks Away has closed. If you are interested in an upcoming Block Away this year, please reach out to that program's faculty leader to see if a late application is possible at this time. You should anticipate that there is no longer any remaining financial aid for this year's Block Away programs as aid was assigned following last spring's application window.

Is it possible to apply after the windows close?

Yes. In some instances a program will be seeking more students after the window closes, or there may be room on a program's waitlist even if the roster for the program is full.  However, we always recommend applying during the window because both space within the program and aid towards the program is far less likely for students who are approved to join a program after the main application cycle has ended.

Withdrawal Deadlines

Students may withdraw from any Block Away program with no financial commitment to the program until the Withdrawal Deadline listed below.

Block Away Withdrawal Deadlines

Blocks 1 or 2:  May 1
Blocks 3 or 4: August 1
Blocks 5 or 6: October 1
Blocks 7 or 8: December 1
Summer in Spain: February 10
All Other Summer Blocks: March 15

Withdrawal after the program's deadline will produce a late withdrawal fee of 25% of the announced program fee. Withdrawal during the block prior to departure (including Block 8 for all summer programs) produces a 75% withdrawal fee.

How to Withdraw

Students can withdraw by returning to Summit and using the blue "Request Cancellation" button. While communicating directly with the program's faculty leader is also appropriate, it does not serve as the official withdrawal, only the Summit withdrawal is official and the date of that request will serve as the official withdrawal date.
